The Picture Album
The photograph is a wonderful invention. "But there is a more wonderful, more important, and more interesting work than this continually going on in every human soul, which may he compared to the process above described, and which may be called the moral photograph. A prepared tablet, most wonderfully made, exists within us, on which the light is painting and fixing scenes and objects which can be called forth for our own observation, and which will all hereafter be brought out and spread in order before us, to our honor or shame, our joy or grief."

The Preacher's Study of the Bible
Rev JT Duryea
"IT is the sole business of the preacher to interpret, illustrate, apply, and enforce the word of God as contained in the sacred Scriptures. He is not appointed to teach in any of the various departments of science, philosophy, secular history, or of domestic, social, and political economy. He has no call to enter the several fields of investigation described by these titles, except in so far as the special truths discoverable within them may be made serviceable for the elucidation and practical adaptation of that definite body of truth that has been revealed by the Holy Ghost. It is probable that this statement may receive assent without proofs. Nevertheess a display of the proofs may be needful to give it force, and bring it home to the conscience and heart of the preacher."

The Presiding Elder to His Official Members
"DEAR BRETHREN: I have now become thoroughly acquainted with the condition, wants, embarrassments, and encouragements of all your Churches. My sympathies are fully enlisted in your behalf, and in your noble work. The Church has respected and honored you in calling you to the offices which you fill. God help you to fulfill that high and holy trust!"

The Priesthood of Christ
"It is much to be regretted that our habitual devotions are not more intimately combined with the atonement and intercession of our great High-priest; for were this the case, they would uniformly rise to higher and holier ardor, fill the soul with a richer and more undisturbed enjoyment of heavenly blessings, and give us, at least, a glimpse of the beatific vision."

The Pulpit and the Sabbath-School
Rev Henry A Nelson
"Can this turning the hearts of fathers to their children, and the hearts of children to their fathers, be accomplished in any other way, or by any other means, so well as by the combined and co-operative action of these two powers, the Sabbath-school and the pulpit? Are they not fitted to each other, and together fitted for this high use with a wisdom that is more than human? Have not they been predestined by God to be developed in this age, and to come forth together soon, in their beautiful harmony and marvelous adaptation, ready for the great work to be done for Christ?"

The Qualifications Essential for the Apostleship
Rev Henry Bleby
This pamphlet describes the three (3) qualifications essential to be an apostle. It ends with this: "These, according to the teaching and analogy of God's word, were the essential qualifications of an apostle. All these are found in the twelve; but they are not, and never have been, found to meet in any other human being."

The Rum Railroad
Rev E F Remington
The Rum Railroad is continental. It extends, with its numerous branch roads, from the rivers to the ends of the earth. It has ten thousand thousand stations, but the trains all run to one terminus-the gate of hell. It is broad-gauge - not one rod is narrow-gauge - and it is a down grade all the way. The road-bed is laid in a concrete of blood and tears.
