The Soul Winner

Edward O. Guerrant, captain in the Confederate States Army and leader of home missions for the Kentucky Synod of the Presbyterian Church, was the founding editor of The Soul Winner. The journal was published from Guerrant's "Belvoir" estate in Wilmore, Kentucky, beginning in 1902 and ending in 1926. The Soul Winner was the official organ of the interdenominational "Society of Soul Winners," founded by Guerrant in 1897, which trained ministers and teachers for mission work in the Southern Appalachian mountain region. In 1911, Guerrant transferred control of the "Society of Soul Winners" to the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of the United States (South) and in 1913 resigned as editor of The Soul Winner.

This periodical was digitized from a microfilm reel owned by the Union Presbyterian Seminary William Smith Morton Library, who graciously consented to it being made available for public use.
