Leaves of Healing
Leaves of Healing was a journal published by John Alexander Dowie, a well-known holiness faith-healer who lived from 1847-1907. He established the city of Zion, Illinois for his followers and was deposed by his followers in 1905 for financial irregularities. In 1901, Dowie claimed to be the spiritual return of the prophet Elijah. In 1903, Dowie officially named his religious organization the Christian Catholic Apostolic Church. Dowie's work is considered a forerunner of Pentecostalism.
