Papers of Albert Sweazy ARC2000-004 - Finding Aid
ATS Special Collections and Archives
The papers of Albert Wakefield Sweazy cover the years 1924 to 1996 with a concentration of materials that have no date. Included in this collection are Reports, Subject Files, Literary Productions, Scrapbook Materials, Audio Recordings, and Printed Materials.
Subject files include the history of churches he served and much material on the history of the UM church in Kentucky, biographical and historical data, and sermons. His literary productions are often handwritten and taken directly from notebooks or legal pads. Among his literary productions are skits & stories, tributes, correspondence, lectures, devotionals, and notes from sermons, memorial services, and conferences. Scrapbook materials include any of the following: photographs, awards for service to US Army or various churches, conference medals, diplomas, copies of wall-hung plaques, and pages and materials from actual scrapbooks assembled by his wife. His personal Bible given by his parents is catalogued in the Printed Materials. Lastly, recordings of various sermons and services are in the Audio Materials.
This collection was donated by his wife after his death and can be found in two boxes of letter- or legal-sized folders. The processors of this collection made every attempt to maintain Dr. Sweazy’s original grouping and order of materials. However, this at times had to be overridden for the sake of clarity, space, and continuity. Scott Hughes and Julie Gunby processed these materials in April 2000, and this finding aid was prepared the same month.

Papers of Amy N. Hinshaw ARC2024-009 - Finding Aid
ATS Special Collections and Archives
This small but important collection of material connected to Amy Naomi Hinshaw documents an important part in recording the history of the mission work of the Church of the Nazarene, especially within the Woman’s Missionary Society between the dates of 1927 and 1939. This collection’s research strength is in first-hand accounts of Nazarene missions obtained and recorded by Hinshaw, as she began working on the history of Nazarene missions while it was still an active project and many of the early missionaries were still on the field. Her work often includes quotes from letters, and thus she becomes an important historiographer for the denomination.
This collection includes biographical materials, printed missionary publications, and scrapbooks of Hinshaw’s published articles and essays. The size of the collection is two boxes comprising .84 linear feet of space. There are no restrictions on this collection.
